Our Story
Where vintage treasures meet timeless creations
Loosethreds was born from love — love for my family, love for the art of quilting, and love for creating beautiful things that last.
A Legacy of Teaching and Creating
My grandmother won awards for her quilts. My mother was a seamstress who could alter anything by eye. Between the two of them, I learned to sew with whatever was on hand — odd scraps, mismatched thread, a needle that had seen better days. There was never a "proper kit." There was just the next stitch.
I grew up watching them both, but I didn't really start sewing in earnest until after I got married. My mother used her own sewing the same way — a skill she leaned on to provide for herself whenever she needed to. By the time my four kids were old enough for soccer, baseball, and dance, I was sewing purses, bags, and quilts for graduation gifts — sold word of mouth, to friends and family, to whoever needed something made.
"No one is going to go looking for the mistakes in what you made. Only you will ever see them."
— what my grandmother told me, more times than I can count
When Etsy came along, it didn't change what I made — it changed how far it could travel. I built my shop around appliquéd monogrammed towels, pillowcases, and kitchen linens, and the same handmade pieces I'd been stitching at my kitchen table could suddenly reach women in other states, other countries. These days, Loosethreds has expanded into something new too: giving old, worn, and inherited quilts a second life. Same hands, same "whatever's on hand" spirit — just a bigger table.
I've carried my grandmother's lesson into every class I've ever taught, first to small children, and now to grown women picking up a needle for the first time or the first time in years. A crooked seam was never the point. Showing up and trying again was.
What We Do
At Loosethreds, I honor that legacy in two ways:
Handmade Treasures: I transform vintage quilts into one-of-a-kind pieces and create new items with timeless farmhouse charm. Each piece is carefully crafted to be loved, used, and passed down through generations—just like the quilts that inspired them.
DIY Courses: I share the joy of creating through accessible, inspiring courses that teach those cherished "old" skills. Whether you're repurposing vintage textiles or crafting new heirlooms, I'll guide you through the process with the patience my grandmother showed me.
For the Love of Handmade
If you treasure vintage finds, appreciate the beauty of handmade, and believe that the best gifts and home pieces are made with meaning, you're in the right place. Every item here—whether made by my hands or yours—is designed to become a cherished treasure, a conversation starter, a family heirloom.
Because the best things in life aren't just made. They're made with love.
Welcome to Loosethreds. Let's create something beautiful together.
